Intranets and Law Firms

This is to start getting more ideas from all the viositors of my blog.

An intranet can be a valuable and effective business tool for an organization. It can be a strategic asset that supports key business processes, improvements in efficiency as well as greater staff and customer satisfaction[Designing and Managing an Intranet – Australian Government Information Management Office (AGIMO)]. A “healthy” Intranet can be quite profitable for an organization since it can be the tool that the management of an organization “drives” the employees. However, the evaluation of your current Intranet is very important since always an Intranet needs improvements. From my point of view, there is not a perfect Intranet and every intranet needs improvements. This might sound very disappointing but there are several reasons for that. First of all, I have not seen all the Intranets in the world since it is impossible to do that. Maybe there is a perfect intranet “out there” and I did not see it yet or I will never see it. Second, a perfect intranet for one company it is not nesseccarily the perfect one for another company. For example, e perfect intranet for a law firm in Cyprus, it is not the perfect intranet for a law firm in UK. Third, there are many things that the intranet team needs to “keep track” in an Intranet. This task is not impossible but it is very difficult even for Intranet teams in large organizations due to the fact that the organization is evolving constantly and the intranet has to follow this evolution. Intranets are not static internal web sites but are constantly changing during their lives. Basically, intranet is a live asset in an organization environment and is constantly changing and evolving. Changes are very normal to an intranet of a large company and this is one of the reasons that year-by-year the intranet matures and becomes more usable for the staff of the organization. Also, the needs of each company are different from each other and this is the cause that an intranet of one organization is not necessarily the right one for another.But...what exactly in an Intranet? If you search through the Internet you can find many different answers to this question.
